My name is Ahmed Nagm, and today I want to share something very personal.
Something painful.
Something that changed our family forever. because of that i start gofundme cancer campaign
This is the story of my father’s battle with Mycosis Fungoides, a rare form of blood cancer that has slowly taken over his body and turned our lives upside down.
This is not just a story about disease.
It’s a story about strength, love, and the will to keep going – even when everything feels impossible.
It Started With a Rash
Back in 2011, my father began noticing strange patches on his skin.
They would come and go.
Sometimes itchy, sometimes red, but always confusing.
We went to several doctors.
They told us it was eczema or maybe psoriasis.
So, like anyone would, we followed the treatments they gave us.
But the spots never truly went away.
Over time, they spread.
They grew deeper.
They became a part of his daily pain — a quiet suffering that no one could really see.
He continued working through all of it.
My father works in the food industry — baking and preparing sweets.
It’s a job that requires clean hands and constant contact with people.
Even though his illness wasn’t contagious, the appearance of his hands made him feel ashamed.
He started avoiding social gatherings.
He kept his hands in his pockets.
He stayed home more.
Years of Misdiagnosis
For seven years, my father lived with this unknown condition.
He endured the physical discomfort, the emotional pain, and the feeling of isolation — all while working to provide for his family.
He never gave up on us.
He made sure we got a good education.
He made sure we had food on the table.
Even when his workplace faced financial trouble and delayed salaries, he never let us feel the burden.
He carried it all on his shoulders — silently.
Then Came the Diagnosis
In 2018, everything changed.
After a government inspection at his workplace, he was asked to undergo a medical exam.
The results were shocking: doctors suspected a form of skin lymphoma.
We couldn’t believe it.
Because medical care was too expensive in the country he worked in, the doctor recommended that he return to Sudan for further testing.
That’s where we finally got the real diagnosis:
Mycosis Fungoides – a rare type of Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma, affecting only a few people per million every year.
It’s a blood cancer that starts on the skin and spreads silently inside the body.
We had lost years. But thankfully, it hadn’t reached the final stage yet.
The Fight Begins
My father started radiation therapy.
He went through it for two years.
But unfortunately, there was little to no improvement.
The doctors then moved to chemotherapy.
We were scared, but also hopeful.
And it worked – at first.
His skin began clearing.
His energy returned.
For five months, we finally saw him smile again.
But just when we thought the worst was behind us, the cancer came back.
Stronger.
Some lymph nodes responded.
Others didn’t.
The skin lesions returned — more aggressively.
Now, We Need Help
Doctors now recommend a new, stronger round of chemotherapy.
It’s more powerful — and much more expensive.
We’ve done everything we can.
We sold what we could.
We used every bit of savings we had.
But now we’re at a point where we can’t do it alone anymore.
That’s why I started a GoFundMe campaign.
We’re trying to raise £100,000 (British Pounds), which will cover:
-
6 doses of advanced chemotherapy
-
Medical supervision and follow-up tests
-
Supporting medication to protect his immune system
-
Housing during the recovery period
-
Nutritional care and medical transport
Everything he needs to survive… and hopefully, to heal.
Why I’m Sharing This
I know that most people reading this have never heard of Mycosis Fungoides.
I hadn’t either — until it came for my father.
But cancer is cancer.
Whether common or rare, the pain is real.
The fear is real.
And the cost is more than most families can carry alone.
If you’ve ever watched someone you love suffer…
If you’ve ever wished you could do something to ease their pain…
Then you understand.
And if you’ve read this far — thank you.
It means you care.
